• ABOUT OFFSET

Not a boy

racer story.

Offset: More than meets is Wellington’s car meet and cruise culture, told for the people already in it. Not the outsiders looking in, not the general public wondering what a car meet actually is. This is for the scene: the crews, the builds and the community that keeps people showing up to the same car park every week, rain or shine.

We’re not here to explain why someone would spend their weekend under a bonnet, or drive to nowhere in particular with mates on a Tuesday night. If you're reading this, you probably already know.

What we’re here to do is tell the stories behind it, not a boy racer story, but the people quietly making this community a better place.

Wellington’s car meet and cruise culture doesn’t run on chance. It runs on people who looked at what already existed, decided it wasn’t enough and built something themselves anyways, a crew, a cruise, a petition, a page. What’s rarely told is what that actually costs

them: the doubt before anyone shows up, the pressure of being the one others look to, the parts of holding it together that nobody else sees.

And underneath all of it runs a fight that’s easy to miss from the outside, not for tolerance, but for legitimacy. For being seen as something more than a stereotype. For the same recognition other passions get without having to ask for it.

Offset exists to tell those stories properly. Not the specs, not the lap times, but the people who show up, who build, and what it actually takes to hold a scene like this together.

The name comes from wheel offset, the measurement that decides how a wheel actually sits in relation to the hub. A small shift changes everything about a car’s stance, character and presence. Offset applies that same idea to automotive media itself: a shift in perspective, away from horsepower and specs, towards the people and the community behind them.

Know a build, a crew, or something

happening in the scene that deserves to be told properly?
